Young Professionals Workshop

Young Professionals in the water sector face many challenges, including their choice of career in academia, with the private sector or with not-for-profit organizations.  For Young Professionals who choose academia as their career choice, there are the additional challenges of publishing in peer-reviewed journals. This is especially difficult to navigate in a publication world that includes “predatory journals” and AI-generated articles.

 

Through keynote presentations and group discussions, Young Professional attendees under the age of 35 will have an opportunity to discuss strategies for navigating their professional career and maximizing the impact of their publications. This forum will provide an opportunity for networking with peers and mentors in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

The workshop is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM and will end at approximately 5 PM at a location in the Chestnut Conference Centre.

1:30 – 2:00 PM:  Opening remarks and icebreaker activity

2:00 – 3:30 PM: Workshop 1 - Career opportunities in the
                                                 water sector

3:30 – 4:00 PM:  Networking break

4:00 – 5:00 PM: Workshop 2 – Turn your research into

                                                  impact: Publish with

                                                  purpose

About the Conference

Every two years, the IWA Micropol and Ecohazard conference brings together colleagues from around the world to hear about the latest research developments on the fate and effects of micropollutants in water, wastewater and drinking water, including technologies for removing these contaminants from water.
